Professor Annamaria La Chimia is a Professor of Law and Development at the University of Nottingham, where she also serves as Director of the Public Procurement Research Group (PPRG), a leading global centre for procurement law and policy. She is an internationally recognised authority on International and European Procurement Law, with more than two decades of experience in research, teaching, and high-level policy advising. Professor La Chimia is also an Extraordinary Professor at Stellenbosch University, South Africa, and an experienced procurement trainer. She has led or co-led major research initiatives totalling over £2.1 million.

Professor La Chimia regularly advises international organisations and governments on GRP, SPPP, tied aid, and external aid procurement (including procurement by national and multinational financial institutions). She served as Special Procurement Advisor on Gender and Sustainability for the EU External Mission in Somalia (EUCAP Somalia) and acted as Senior Advisor for the World Bank on several occasions (capacity-building training and policy advising on PPP and infrastructure, Gender and food procurement). She published extensively in leading international journals and edited collections.
