Federico Esu

Innovation-systems architect

Law · Strategy · Funding · Policy · Entrepreneurship · Procurement

Federico Esu has over fifteen years of experience working at the intersection of European law, innovation, public policy, and public-private collaboration. A qualified lawyer in Italy, he specialised in international and European law at University College London and has worked across law firms, businesses, public administrations, and European institutions. At the European Commission, he worked on public procurement (including innovation and pre-commercial procurement), framework agreements, and EU funding instruments. He later contributed to the development of the European Innovation Council, coordinating interinstitutional teams and designing mechanisms connecting European, national, and regional innovation programmes. He currently leads pan-European entrepreneurship and venture-building programmes at Climate KIC. His work combines legal and regulatory expertise, the governance of complex programmes, and multi-stakeholder facilitation, helping diverse participants identify common priorities and translate discussion into clear, actionable outcomes.
